Novak Djokovic reached the China Open final in Beijing after Daniil Medvedev was defaulted on Monday. Djokovic saved 16 of 18 break points in a two-hour, 29-minute semi-final before the default ended the match.

Alex de Minaur advanced to his 10th ATP 500 final when Hubert Hurkacz retired with an adductor injury in the other Beijing semi-final. De Minaur led 6-4, 3-2 when Hurkacz stopped. Hurkacz said he first felt the injury during his quarter-final win over Karen Khachanov.

Carlos Alcaraz rallied to beat qualifier Jaume Munar 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 in the Japan Open semi-finals in Tokyo. The defending champion lost 16 straight points from late in the first set into the second before breaking back to reach his first final since Monte Carlo in April.

Iga Swiatek came back from 6-4, 5-2 down to beat Donna Vekic 4-6, 7-6(0), 6-2 in the WTA 1000 China Open third round in Beijing. The 2023 champion won the second-set tiebreak without dropping a point and will face 10th seed Iva Jovic in the round of 16.

Sixth-seeded Djokovic meets fifth seed Alex de Minaur in the ATP 500 final at Capital Group Diamond Court on Tuesday, not before 7 p.m. local time. Djokovic leads their head-to-head series 3-1 and is chasing a record seventh title in Beijing.

Defending champion Alcaraz faces Jiri Lehecka in the Japan Open final in Tokyo, with the singles match scheduled not before 6 p.m. local time. Alcaraz leads Lehecka 3-1 in their career meetings. Lehecka beat Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-2 in Monday's second semi-final.

Seventh-seeded Karolina Muchova meets 12th seed Naomi Osaka in WTA round-of-16 action in Beijing on Tuesday, not before 3 p.m. local time on the Diamond court. Mirra Andreeva and Linda Noskova also play round-of-16 matches on that court.
