How World Team Tennis works
A mixed professional league. Men and women on the same club share one match, and the 2026 season is six nights in December.
The 2026 season
World Team Tennis returns in December 2026 for what the league calls its 47th season. Three clubs play six matches. Each club hosts two. New York Empire plays at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on December 1 and 2. Toronto North plays at Coca-Cola Coliseum on December 5 and 6. Florida Flamingos play at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise on December 14 and 15.
Billie Jean King and others founded the league in 1974. It last played in November 2021, at Indian Wells, and it did not play in 2022. The 2026 season uses a new match format, described below.
A match
Each club starts two men and two women. The night is five sets, in this order: men’s No. 1 singles, women’s No. 1 singles, men’s No. 2 singles, women’s No. 2 singles, then a mixed-doubles supertiebreaker. The mixed doubles is played every match, whatever the score is after the singles.
Singles use no-ad scoring, so a deuce is a deciding point. Every set counts toward the club result, and men and women contribute equally.
